Tourism Cares for International Tour Management Institute Graduate
Scholarship Award to ITMI Tour Director Graduate, Donna Paulsen

Non-profit awards George Reinke Scholarship to Donna Paulsen of Albuquerque, NM

Canton, Mass. (November 4, 2009 )

Tourism Cares, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the travel experience for future generations, awarded the George Reinke Scholarship, (part of the American Society of Travel Agents Scholarship Fund), in the amount of $1,500, to Donna Paulsen of Albuquerque, NM. Each year, the prestigious scholarships are presented to deserving travel, tourism and hospitality students at schools across the United States and Canada.

"Tourism Cares is delighted to present this scholarship to Donna in recognition of her commitment to her travel, tourism, and hospitality education," said Bruce Beckham, Executive Director at Tourism Cares. "Thanks to the generous donors whose contributions have made this scholarship award possible, motivated students and aspiring industry professionals, like Donna, are rewarded for their excellence and encouraged to pursue their future endeavors in this industry," he added.

In addition to the monetary award, Paulsen will be given the opportunity to attend the Tourism Cares Experience the Industry Student Program at the National Tour Association's Annual Convention, held mid-November in Reno, Nevada.

Paulsen first developed a passion for travel during her senior year in high school when she visited Europe with her family for the first time. In addition, she has always enjoyed working with people, which she was able to do after graduation from Cedarville University in Ohio. She obtained the position of Director of Guest Services at her alma mater, where she enjoyed mentoring students, and helping them learn, grow, and be inspired to share with others. When she discovered the profession of Tour Director, she knew she had found the perfect blend of both of these passions. In five years, she hopes to be well established as a Tour Director with extensive domestic and international tour experience.

"I am very honored to receive the George Reinke Scholarship and am grateful to Tourism Cares and ASTA for providing me with the support, encouragement and opportunity to continue pursuing my dream," Paulsen stated.

Paulsen graduated in May 2009 from the Certified Tour Director Program at the International Tour Management Institute. She has been actively pursuing opportunities to work as a Tour Director for tour operators specialized in the senior market.
