ITMI Tour Director/Tour Guide Training
Fees and Tuition

If you are accepted to our travel director training, you will be given an Enrollment Contract to sign and return to the Institute to reserve your place in our travel work courses. Please refer to the fee schedule below for ITMI's Tour Director Training.
All major credit cards are accepted.

Itemized Breakdown of Financial Obligation

Registration Fee $50 Due upon acceptance
Deposit $200 Due within 3 weeks of acceptance
Tuition-Level I Tour Guide Training $1,450 Due prior to course
Tuition-Level II Tour Director Training $1,650 Due upon completion of Level I
Total Cost $3,350  

Financial Assistance:
There are different sources for partial scholarships and loans that can be applied to the ITMI travel director course. These options will be covered during your personal interview.

Tax Credits:
The Federal government offers tax credits "up to 20% of your first $5000 in expenses for tuition and other fees." This will reduce your ITMI fees by as much as $670. These are referred to as "Lifetime Learning Credits." For more information refer to www.irs.gov or talk to your tax advisor.

Method of Instruction:
Classes are limited to 32-35 students and are conducted seminar-style to allow maximum class participation. The method of instruction is team teaching. There will be at least three tour director instructors in each class. This will enable you to become personally acquainted with your instructors and enable you to work with them on an individual basis.

Tour Guide Certification

The objective of ITMI is to provide professional training of the principles and code of ethics necessary to do travel work in tour management. This cannot be done in classroom studies alone. Emphasis is on supervised practical field experience in all phases of training. More than half of the ITMI program is conducted in the field - You learn by doing!

Prior to graduation we work in partnership with you to develop a resume that specifically emphasizes your skills and qualifications as a Tour Director. We also role-play interview techniques and target each graduate to specific tour companies and destinations.
